November Prayer Focus

I pray everyone has had a relatively smooth start to the 2018-19 school year!

If you are like our school, usually bumps occur along the path that God allows in order to grow each of us to greater dependence on Him.

I wanted to take a moment to encourage you to make prayer the heartbeat of your administrative staff, board, and school.  This year KACS administrator, Alex Miller, asked us to adopt the verses from Isaiah 54:1-4.

At King’s Academy, we have had some barren years; suffered shame brought on by disgruntled parents and experienced desolation from people who did not understand the model.

Regardless of how it has looked, we believe God was in all of it to prepare us for such a “time as this.” The soil is rich, the workers are prepared, and the fields are ripe and ready for more students to be planted.

As we read scripture, we were reminded by Dr. Koch, who visited KACS last year, to circle the verbs and see what God is doing. In this passage, I love the strong verbs used: enlarged, stretch, lengthen, strengthen, and spread. I believe God has laid a foundation to enlarge, stretch, lengthen, strengthen, and spread Himself at King’s Academy.

As I began praying these verses over the school, God prompted my heart to pray this scripture over all the UMSI schools. At times I will enter in to a quiet time with a song of praise and break out into prayer using these verbs, proclaiming victory over all the schools.

We know the enemy wants to divide, destroy, and remove any model that builds up the family, teaches the truth according to scripture, and equips the next generation with knowledge about the Lord Jesus Christ.

I do not know where you find yourself as you are reading this today. Be encouraged, my brother or sister. It is not up to you to change your school, students, or parents. It is your job to be so connected to the vine, living in union with the Father, that you (the branch) can do nothing apart from Him. (John 15:5).

Let’s come together and declare this scripture over our individual schools and corporately over the UMSI organization, watching to witness what El Elyon will accomplish.

I have been at KACS for 13 years, both at the administrative level and as a parent. God has birthed this model in my heart. I am passionate about students knowing their identity in Christ and encouraging families to be intentional with the time God has given them with their children. Prior to KACS, I worked in Arlington ISD in personnel. I have no greater joy than to hear that our students are walking in the truth! 3 John 1:4.
