Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) held its 2019-2020 State Basketball Tournament in West, Texas during the last week of February. Four UMSI schools participated: Kingdom Preparatory Academy of Lubbock, Coram Deo Academy of Plano and Flower Mound, Faith Academy of Marble Falls, and Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy of The Woodlands.
The Kingdom Preparatory Academy (KPA) girls basketball team compiled an 11-1 record in district play and won the Division 1-A championship. In the state tournament, the KPA girls defeated Trinity School of Texas in the semifinals and finished as state runners-up in Division 1-A. Two of their players received First Team All State honors, and four achieved All Tournament recognition.
Coram Deo Academy of Plano (CDA-P) girls basketball team finished undefeated in district play and earned a spot in the Division 2-A playoffs. Their winning streak continued until the state semifinals against Southcrest Christian School. Two CDA-P players made First Team All State, and two were named to the All Tournament team.
The Coram Deo Academy of Flower Mound (CDA-FM) boys team placed second in their district and advanced to the state tournament to play Covenant Christian in the semi-finals. One CDA-FM player earned the First Team All State honors, and two received All Tournament accolades..
Faith Academy of Marble Falls (FA-M) and Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy (LPCA) both won their districts in Division 3-A and qualified for the state tournament. Both teams reached the semifinals where Faith played the returning state champs, Midland Classical Academy, and Legacy played Legacy Christian of Beaumont. FA-M placed two players and LPCA placed one on the All State First Team. Two players from each team also received All Tournament honors.
