2022 UMSI Summit
Registration is open for the 2022 UMSI Summit:
July 11-13, 2022
The theme for the UMSI Summit is “Celebrating Twenty Years of Ministry,” with professional development tracks available for classical teachers, traditional teachers, administrators, family ministry practitioners, and program support faculty.
Coming to his first UMSI Summit as keynote speaker is Richard Ross. Richard Ross has served as a professor of student ministry in the Jack D. Terry School of Educational Ministries since 2000. His entire life has focused on seeing Christ glorified in the lives of teenagers and their parents and leaders. He served as a local-church student pastor for 30 years. Overlapping part of that time was 16 years of service as the student ministry consultant at LifeWay Christian Resources. His keynote sessions are detailed below:
“Calling and Equipping Parents to Take First Position in the Spiritual Leadership of Their Children”
Many parents are tempted to “outsource” the spiritual development of their children to the school or church. But biblically, parents are to be the primary spiritual leaders of their children. This session will give school leaders specific ways to motivate parents to take on this role and equip parents to lead their children at home.
“Parents Who Are Lost, Converts, or Disciples—and the Probable Future of Their Children”
The research indicates that when parents are spiritually lost, their children usually become adults who are lost. When parents are disciples, their children usually become adults who are disciples. When parents are converts (Christian parents with a shallow, me-centered faith), their children usually walk away from the church and the faith as adults. This session will help school leaders identify these three groups of parents, and craft strategies for moving lost and converting parents toward becoming disciples.
More details will be coming soon!
